Spell: To Find Lost Objects {With a side bar on general spellcraft}

I figured I would start off with something small as far as the spell portion of this online grimoire goes. I tend to be a little absent minded and have been known to set something down, turn around, and it go missing. With that being said, let me get into some of the basics of spell craft.

Spells and rituals are essentially a way that we shape and direct our own energy with the natural and supernatural energies around us to bring about change. By saying words, going through certain movements, or performing certain gestures, we are just putting our minds into the right mindset to focus, shape, and harness this energy to bring about the desired change. The words and gestures are not so much what is important, just the energy you put into them. There are some instances where specific words and gestures may be preferred, but I will go into that at another time.

This spell is actually genuinely simple. It involves visualization and a rather simple chant. I'll go through the steps I normally would and you are encouraged to tweak it as you see fit to better to your own personal tastes.

First, determine if you are in an area where a hand gesture would attract undue attention. If you are not, you would want to hold out your dominant hand palm up and visualize a ball of energy forming there. While building this ball of energy, also keep a clear image of the object that was lost in your head. While doing this chant:

"Bound and binding
binding bound
see the sight
and hear the sound
what was lost
now be found
bound and binding
binding bound."

Eventually, you should feel the energy "tug" you in a general direction, eventually leading to the lost object. Now if you are in area that you may not be able to hold out your hand in such a way, you can visualize the energy creating a bit of a "halo" around your head. It works in generally the same manner, but I have noticed that I do not use my hand, the sensation is more vague. I have also used this spell to find people if I have been separated from a group in a crowd with some success. :)

And that concludes the first spell for the blog. If you have any questions or comment, please feel free to comment!

Tarot Reading #1 - Cagliostro Tarot

I figured I would officially start this blog off with a tarot reading. I am going to keep it pretty simple with a three card spread, typically referred to as the Past-Present-Future spread. As you have probably already concluded, each of the cards drawn represents one of the three mentioned aspects of time in the name of the spread. For this spread, I shuffled the deck, then split it three ways. For this particular reading, I used the tarot deck that belonged to my mother from when she had first started practicing in her youth. It is a Cagliostro deck, and I seem to have a rather high accuracy rate with it.

With the spread being a simple three card spread, it is best used to get more of just a general outlook and energy for a situation. If you want more specifics on a particular matter, it is best to use a larger spread. With this in mind, I just asked generally what I could expect from 2013 since my luck has been a little less than stellar lately.

The Past (representing past influences that may be affecting the present and future situations)
The Queen of Spades
This card represents sadness, mourning, and loneliness. As I mentioned before, I have not had the best bout of luck as of late. Decade long friendships have ended, boyfriends and lovers have come and gone, not to mention the usual issues I've always had with electronics and automobiles.

The Present (representing the present situation)
The Queen of Diamonds
This card represents the urge to nurture and be nurtured. I have always had the strong urge to help and protect those I care about, and lately these feeling have been intensified. I've been saying protective chants under my breath around my friends and family, while at the same time feeling strangely disconnected from those same people.

The Future (the probable outcome based on the events leading up to the time of the reading)
The Empress
This card represents good tidings and is a symbol of hope becoming more real with each passing day. In conjunction with the other cards, and giving that this is a simple three card spread, the message seems to say that 2013 should be a better year for me. Good things shall happen this year that will outweigh the negativity I have recently endured.

Now I do have to caution that the Tarot, while a wonderful tool of divination, is just that. A tool. The future is not set in stone. The choices that we make can change the outcome. Like any tool of divination, it is just supposed to provide insight, not be taken as an unshakeable, unchangeable truth.

And that concludes the first tarot reading for the blog. :) Til next time.

An Introduction

Welcome to my blog, which will be doubling as a sort of electronic Book of Shadows if you will. I want to share some of my personal experiences in the realms of magick and the paranormal. I'll be posting things that have happened to me, any divinations I may perform, and of course chronicle some of my favorite spells and rituals. I may even include some general information from time to time, for those of you reading this that may not be as familiar with Paganism or Witchcraft.

I am going to attempt to keep everything semi-organized for easy navigation. I cannot promise things of similar subject matters will be lumped cleanly together, but I will try to keep the subject of each post clearly labeled so that you can search for anything I post with relative ease.

Also, I will try to answer any questions in a timely manner. I genuinely like to help people, so if you are wanting some assistance, be it with spellcraft, divination, or anything of a paranormal or magickal nature, please do not hesitate to ask.

And with that, I will conclude this introduction. Next post to be coming soon.
